At a card game of ‘Stratego’, which is an online game; ‘in order to win the player shouldn’t risk any of his highest ranked pieces to be defeated at those pieces that ranked very low. It can also be noted that a low ranked piece can be useful in doing the same job, as effectively as the piece with a higher rank. Such a strategic move is also less risky while playing at the card game.
Few strategy pointers to look out for:
1. During the initial game setup, try and keep a tab on the layout of your opponent’s pieces on the board. A person new to the game will always, most of the time; will spend majority of his time in setting up the game around where the flag is located. This can be of an hint and should be taken full use of.
2. Never do the above said ‘mistake’ of arranging all the pieces together. Resume by placing each of your pieces in the original squares and slowly make them move accordingly. 7. Placing two or more scouts in the last row can minimize the worry and can be used for attacking during the end of the game. They can attack from a distance so their usability cannot be neglected.
8. The two highlighting figures (pieces) in the game; ‘the marshal and the general’, should be placed on the extreme ends from each other. This is because; by such placement they can help strengthen both the sides from against the enemy attacks.
9. A surprising move, for your opponent, can be carried out by using a spy placed next to a general. When a general is used to attack an enemy, spy can come handy and then general can be placed back into its original position. Spy can acts a back-up guard for the general.
10. Never place same ranking pieces adjacent to each other. They prove no purpose, in defending or otherwise, whatsoever. Everything place is with the idea of protecting and hiding the flag from the many. The strategy should solely be decided on this.
